Have you ever wondered why I choose Young Living?
Some may ask if it REALLY matters where you buy your essential oils from. I am all for buying what you want, where you want…and doing so within your budget. But when it comes to essential oils, I am picky. And here are a few reasons why.
- Essential oil companies are not industry regulated. What does that mean? It means that companies that sell essential oils can put on their label whatever they want, and no one is regulating them to see if what they claim is true. SO if the label says it’s 100% pure essential oil, how do we know if that’s true? Here are a few things to look out for:
- Does the label contain the Latin name of the plant? If it does, that’s a good sign.
- Is the oil being sold in a glass, amber, or blue bottle? It should be. Oils are sensitive to light and will last way longer if stored properly. If it’s not sold in the right bottle, that company is selling a cheap oil that isn’t pure…guaranteed.
- Carefully read the ingredients. If there’s anything listed other than the Latin name of the oil, it’s not pure. Even if the front of the label says it is. And oftentimes, you can smell the difference.
- Research the company! Do they do third-party testing? How do they source their plants? What is their distilling process? This is important because MANY companies claim “pure” on their labels but are actually filled with synthetics, fragrances, and additives that are actually harmful to our bodies. Check out Young Living’s rigorous testing standards here and here.
2. Essential oils are only therapeutic IF that little bottle contains 100% oil. Sure I love to diffuse oils just so my house smells amazing. But I also really love using EOs to support my body systems…aka emotions, hormones, stress, sleep, etc. If the oil contains any sort of fillers or synthetics, you will not get those powerful benefits. Again, they really can do more harm than good. So just be aware of that.
3. “Price is what you pay, but value is what you get.” That’s a quote from one of my favorite essential oil resource books and I’ve really come to see the truth of that statement. Oils sold at the supermarket or even the gas station (yikes!) are cheap because they can be. They are most likely mass-produced, cut with synthetics, and/or have chemical by-products in them that are SCARY to breathe in or use on your skin. No no no. I cannot state this enough, if you want quality, you’re going to have to pay for it. And not all EOs that Young Living sells are expensive. Some of my favorite oils are under the $15 mark and they have AMAZING benefits.
So why did I choose Young Living?
- Seed to Seal. This is Young Living’s guarantee that each plant has been grown in clean and healthy conditions with no harsh pesticides or yucky toxins. We had a chance to visit the Lavender farm in St. Maries, ID and it was absolutely amazing seeing the process and hand weeding of the lavender fields. A LOT of work goes into ensuring that we get the highest quality essential oils possible. Because of this high standard, Young Living owns a lot of its farms and the farms they choose to partner with are held to their very high standards. This has established them as the industry leader in essential oil production for nearly 30 years! I am confident that the products that I am buying are top of the line and the quality is the best. I love this post for explaining the importance of accurate testing as well.
- Young Living is the pioneer of essential oils. They have sooo many essential oil singles and blends to choose from. Not to mention, the outstanding product lines that are exclusive to YL. Can we say, Ningxia, Thieves, KidScents, Nature’s Ultra, BLOOM…the list goes on.
- Team resources. When you’re new to essential oils, it can seem very overwhelming. But I was never left wondering how to use these oils or where to go to learn more about them. Our team has a TON of resources so that you can feel empowered and educated whether you’re new to using EOs or you’re a seasoned pro. I’m still learning every single day and I absolutely love that about these products. Our team has an exclusive IG page devoted to product education and team support but I also love sharing with everyone on my public page. So if you’re not yet on my team, make sure you’re following here…I’m happy to answer any questions you might have!
These are just a few reasons why I choose Young Living and I’ll go into more detail in later posts but that about sums it up for now.
Thank you for following along as I continue to share!
