In July we visited beautiful Temecula, CA. It was so nice to spend some time with friends and enjoy the beautiful weather that California has to offer. This was a very low-key vacation so it was a lot of relaxing, chilling, and recouping for the week. Of course, a true vacation can’t be relaxing with an unexpected ER visit. If you’re a parent then you fully understand that kids can be a walking petri dish. That being said, River just got over a cold a couple of days before this trip. Of course, we landed and baby boy Cedar has a fever now. I wasn’t too concerned, except for the fact that Cedar has a condition that for the time being we keep private. But any time he gets a fever of 100.4º we need to get some testing done. That day he had a 101º fever and we called our pediatrician. It was highly recommended that we go to the ER to rule out any possible bigger issues. This is the first time this has happened since he hadn’t had a fever prior to this. Nine months without a fever I think is pretty good! So here we are in California, second day in, my kid has a cold and I take him to the ER. I told the doctor that I spent hours trying to personally collect a urine sample in a Ziploc baggie, and after lots of debating, they accepted my collection of his urine sample in the Ziploc bag to test in the end. The ER visit was smooth. I can’t complain, Cedar was fine. He just had a cold as we thought but we checked off all the boxes and we ended up going back to the house.
We stayed at our friend’s neighbor’s guest house which was absolutely gorgeous and the kids could freely walk back and forth to each other’s homes so it was easy breezy for the kiddos. After much relaxing and enjoying some of Temecula‘s fine wine we got to enjoy our first soccer game. I’ll be honest, I don’t know where we were…I think LA.. but I will say, that was one of the most fun sports games I’ve ever gone to.
We also enjoyed a beautiful beach day, and of course, took our kids for the first time to try In-N-Out Burger to indulge themselves in their amazing burgers. One of the days my girlfriend, Deana and I got to walk around the beautiful town and shop around some of their local shops. We stopped at this amazing Matcha tea joint and I got the white chocolate Matcha and Deana got the green goddess Matcha.
We also checked out the lavender shop where I got these cute cards that you can plant in the ground and will sprout flowers in the spring. We did some olive oil tasting, a definite must-try. I also bought a natural loofah at this French soap shop, and the owner was such a doll. So if you use a loofah, do not get the plastic one. Invest in a natural sea loofah. We ended up going to the Leoness winery and did some speed wine tasting since we came at the end of the day. I highly recommend it. My favorite wines from this winery are 2020 Zinfandel Cucamonga valley Lopez Ranch, 2019 cabernet franc-merlot, 2022 sauvignon blanc, and 2022 Melange de blanc.
We all got to hang out poolside for a few days which was so relaxing, we felt like we went to a resort but it was just across the street at our friend’s parents’ house. Gorgeous views, amazing company, and delicious food.
And of course, the airplane ride definitely took longer getting back home but as we were getting our luggage, we saw some unfamiliar but familiar faces, which is always a comfort to see in the airport.
